Grass Fed Freezer Beef and Lamb

What is Grass Fed Beef and Lamb?
Grass fed beef and lamb are animals which live the entire summer on pasture, free to roam and graze as they please. During the winter, they eat only hay. They are given no antibiotics, and no hormones or additives are used to promote extra growth. For these reasons, beef and lamb from these animals is healthy, wholesome and natural in every way.

Why feed only grass?
Over eons, cattle and sheep have evolved eating a high-fiber, forage-based diet. Grass -Fed animals have very lean meat, similar to that of deer or other wild animals. Because grass-fed animals are fed only the natural diet they were designed to eat, their meat is much higher in beta-carotene and omega-3. Research shows that these nutrients can help prevent cancer and cardiovascular disease. Recent research backs this up. (for more info go to our links)
Today our modern diet has levels of omega-3 which are low compared to that of our fore fathers. The reason for this is that much of the meat and eggs we eat comes from animals which are fed corn and grain. Cattle and sheep in feedlots are fed corn and grain because this is the most economical and fastest way to add weight. However, growing corn or grain for animals can be harder on the environment, and produces beef and lamb with a higher level of saturated fats. Grass fed cattle and sheep spend no time in a feedlot, and their meat is leaner and has a much healthier composition of vitamins and nutrients. The ultimate source of these beneficial nutrients is grass, and when you stop feeding animals grass, you remove these beneficial nutrients from that animals meat.

Why don't we use antibiotics?
Because our animals spend their entire lives on free-range pasture, they have little or no chance to get sick. Our animals stay on our farm from start to finish in a low stress environment.
The majority of antibiotics in beef and lamb production are used in feedlots, where a large number of cattle and sheep are brought together from many different farms, this increases the likelihood of viral infections and sickness. As well, being shipped from their home farm the day they are weaned is also very stressful, and can lead to sickness in the animals.

Why don't we use growth hormones or growth additives?
We have chosen to give our customer the best quality of meat we can grow and we believe that
is without the use of unnatural products. Although there is no scientific data which proves that the use of hormonal implants in the animal industry is harmful, we strive to use the most natural production methods possible.
